Sir John Vereker is currently an independent director of XL Group Plc, a leading global insurance and re-insurance company traded on the New York Stock Exchange. Since joining XL Capital’s board of directors in 2007, he has contributed to decisions critical to the survival of the company including the selection of a new chief executive, raising $3 billion in capital and restructuring the company around key business lines. He previously served as Governor and Commander-in-Chief of Bermuda from 2002-2007 and as Permanent Secretary of the U.K. Department for International Development from 1994-2002.
