Kate-Isles-headshotEducation: Bachelor of Regional and Town Planning (with Honours)

Job Overview: I am a Management Consultant within the Business Solutions Group. We specialise in offering tailored consultancy services around risk, resilience and planning. When we say planning we mean land use planning. We help state and local governments develop and implement land use policies to guide the future development of their regions. We bring a different or non-conventional twist to our work in that we embed risk management approaches into our service offering. This is our value add.

I am also the Queensland President for the Planning Institute of Australia which is the peak profession organisation for the planning profession. In this role I facilitate and advocate with governments and the broader community the benefits of good planning and the value that planning can bring to support a prosperous future. With the overhaul of the Queensland planning framework this role keeps me on my toes!

How I ended up at MWH: I had worked with MWH before and was reintroduced to them during my work at Queensland Reconstruction Authority.

What is on my desk right now: Coffee and my daily planner list which is filling up fast and its only 9am on a Monday morning. .

Free time activities: Spending time with my daughter and husband. Dinner parties with good friends and good wine. I am also a member of the Queensland Reds so enjoy going to the rugby and on occasion can be seen hitting the dancefloor!

Best career advice I’ve ever received: Don’t take it personally. Business is business and most of the time particularly with our work there will always be people on different sides and defending their position. This is just part of our job. Very rarely is a disagreement personal it’s just people doing their jobs.
