Education: BSc Geology and Mathematics, MSc Geology
Job Overview: As an engineering geologist, I do a fair bit of field work, mapping and logging bore holes. I try to be of assistance for different work groups, including the transportation, structural and the planning and environmental science team.
How I ended up at MWH: After dropping off my CV at every geotech company in Nelson, it was MWH who rang me up and contracted me to work on the Transmission Gully project as an engineering geologist.
What is on my desk right now: Maps and spread sheets of locations of jetties in bridges, factual report and information about the Wellington Harbour.
Free time activities: My background is adventure guiding, hence I love spending my free time outside, whether it is skiing, mountain biking or just for a walk.
Best career advice I’ve ever received: If you are light on work, look around and ask other if you can help them in any way.
Experiences at MWH: I am currently assisting on a programme in Fiji. This is challenging in several way. It is in another country where they speak a different language, on most of the remote islands there are cultural protocols that you will have to obey, and transport to the remote island is infrequent.
