Qualifications and skills:
- Advanced university degree (Master degree) or equivalent in a discipline relevant to the scope of the assignment such as public relations, public diplomacy, communication, public diplomacy projects/programs management (minimum requirement)
- Communication skills to be able to communicate convincingly with a wide range of contacts, including proven strong public speaking and presentation skills; (preferred requirement)
- Diplomatic skills and capacity to deal with politically sensitive issues; (preferred requirement)
- People management skills to be able to lead, coach and motivate a multi-cultural team of experts to deliver the required results; (preferred requirement)
- Superior written and oral communication skills in English; (minimum requirement)
General professional experience:
- Minimum 10 years of professional (paid) experience in a sector relevant to the scope of the assignment; (minimum requirement)
Specific professional experience:
- Minimum 3 years of professional (paid) experience in and across Canada in a sector relevant to the scope of the assignment; (minimum requirement)
- Minimum 3 years of professional (paid) experience in the fields of public diplomacy, external relations or government affairs; (minimum requirement)
- Strong working knowledge of EU affairs and the EU is an asset; (preferred requirement)
- Strong network among think tanks, academia, businesses, government, media and other relevant organisations across Canada is an asset; (preferred requirement)
- Participation in at least one similar project, preferably public diplomacy or technical assistance projects of similar nature in scope, size and/or contractual value would be an advantage; (preferred requirement).
