The project is one of a series of regional governance projects launched by the European Commission to support the partner countries in ENPI East to increase their convergence to the EU standards in the environmental sector.
The overall objective of the project is to enable an improved and sustainable management of natural resources including nature protection, to reduce effects of climate change and increase environmental cooperation and awareness.
Location: Belarus, Moldova, Ukraine, Russian Fed., Georgia, Azerbaijan, Armenia
Gap analyses of existing relevant policy (air quality, industrial pollution and emissions from urban transport), legislation, institutions and capacities
Assistance to drafting policy papers and regulations
Creation of tools and mechanisms related to air quality management
Preparation of pilot projects to be implemented at local level
Training, awareness raising and study tours
Support towards the implementation of integrated permitting in the industrial sector
Support towards the implementation of Best Available Techniques and best practices for selected industrial sectors
Support towards the introduction of transport related emission standards and transport-planning tools
Development of instruments to reduce emissions and mechanisms to encourage the use of public transport
Support towards the implementation of best practices in the field of integrated urban mobility policies and planning mechanisms
Assessment of the state-of-play in air quality sector
