MWH provided Tropical Forestry Services with a planning and design of irrigation infrastructure for an 8,000 hectare horticultural development within a 16,000 hectare property. These services underpinned the successful implementation of irrigation infrastructure in a remote region of Western Australia.
Carlton Plains Irrigation Infrastructure
MWH services included soil surveying and geotechnical assessment, irrigation district master planning, a feasibility study, detailed scheme design, detailed micro-irrigation design, power use optimization, remote area constructability assessment, project management, technical and economic analysis, and engineering design.
The irrigation scheme feasibility, planning, design and implementation were the most capital intensive elements of the Carlton Plains development. Being able to rely on a functional, sustainable and practical irrigation scheme was of utmost importance to Tropical Forestry Services. The project has since provided opportunities for local businesses, employment, regional development and return on investment for the shareholders.
