You are hereHome >All Projects > Jebal Ali Sewage Treatment Plant - Dubai Municipality
The Jebal Ali Sewage Treatment Plant is planned to be one of the largest in the world serving an ultimate population of 4.5 million (1200ML/d flow). MWH designed Dubai’s first Sewage Treatment Plant in the 1970’s and is appointed to continue giving value services to the Municipality.
Jebel Ali Sewage Treatment Plant will treat the wastewater from Dubai’s rapidly developing new housing and industrial areas and provide irrigation water for the large scale beautification of the city.
The STP will be designed and built in 4 stages, each stage serving an equivalent population of 1.1 million people and a ADWF of 300ML/d.
Irrigation End-use
The Sewage Treatment Plant has been designed to produce an effluent suitable for unrestricted reuse to suit Dubai Municipality standards. This will be achieved by:
Tanker reception and dedicated preliminary treatment
The residual Biosolids will be converted into a dried pellet product, which will be suitable for use as a large scale fertiliser. This will be achieved by:
Primary and Waste Activated Sludge Thickening
Anaerobic Sludge Digestion
Thermal Drying
Dried Sludge Bagging
Delivery
Value analysis was used to select the most appropriate process train to meet the required client outputs. Value engineering has been used to design the most operable and cost effective solution.
Global Expertise
The current project will use the MWH knowledge that brought together expertise from America, Australia, the UK and the Middle East to achieve a best of breed solution based on proven designs.
Jebal Ali was awarded the Best Water Reuse Project as part of the MEED Project Quality Awards 2010.
