Broomfield, Colo., 19, May, 2015 – MWH Global, an engineering, consulting and construction firm focused on water and natural resources, today announced plans to participate in the nationwide Joining Forces initiative, aimed at supporting service members through wellness, education and employment opportunities.
The initiative, launched in 2011 by First Lady Michelle Obama and Dr. Jill Biden, unites the public and private sectors to ensure that service members, veterans and their families have the tools they need to succeed throughout their lives.
The announcement follows a Joining Forces Commitment Ceremony held April 23, at Micron Technology in Manassas, VA., that celebrated the fourth anniversary of the Joining Forces effort. During the event, Mrs. Obama and leaders from across industry, education and government sectors celebrated the accomplishments to date, and pledged support to train or hire 90,000 veterans and military spouses. As a part of the commitment to this effort, MWH will work to expand employment and career development opportunities, and pledged to hire 250 veterans over the next five years.
MWH will focus its employment outreach on three key attributes: connecting employees to the most valued, visible and challenging projects around the globe; providing a culture of learning through formal training and development, on-the-job training, mentoring and knowledge-sharing; and by connecting employees into the MWH global community.
MWH joins other energy sector companies ranging from the smallest start up to some of the largest companies in the world, including Xcel Energy, Exelon, Spectra Tech, Inc., TerranearPMC, LLC, Wastren, SoCalGas, Air Liquide and CTI Energy Services. Other participating sectors include technology and transportation. All of the companies have one thing in common. They are in growing fields where there is a high demand for talent and career paths that can enable veterans and their families to succeed.
“Veterans have made extraordinary sacrifices for our country,” said Alan Krause, chairman and CEO of MWH Global. “They have received sophisticated training, and have leadership and problem-solving experience that offer enormous value to companies in all industries. MWH has long benefited from the service of veterans on our staff and we look forward to continuing this tradition.”
