Brussels, Belgium, September 22, 2014, - The European Investment Bank (EIB) has awarded MWH Global a contract for the implementation of a Resource Efficiency Programme in Seychelles. The programme forms part of a broader water and sanitation programme, Project Neptune, which is being jointly funded by the French Development Agency. MWH will provide consultancy services for energy efficiency, water demand management and drought risk mitigation whilst also assisting the Public Utilities Corporation (PUC) in delivering a sustainable water supply and its long-term efficiency objectives. This programme will also support the PUC in building capacity for comprehensive and integrated water resource management (IWRM).

Project Neptune is aimed at achieving water security through, in part, the refurbishment and expansion of the existing water and wastewater network on the three main islands of Mahé, Praslin and la Digue, reducing unaccounted for water, improving energy efficiency and enhancing environmental and natural disaster risk management in the context of an increasingly uncertain and unpredictable climate.

Wim Drossaert, Europe-Africa president at MWH Global: “We are proud to have been awarded this, our first project for the EIB. It will be a great opportunity to work with this truly important organization on a significant project for the country, as well as showcase our experience with implementing donor-funded Technical Assistance projects in the Indian Ocean.”

Christophe Leroy, Business Development Director for MWH in Brussels: “It was a combination of MWH specialties that won this exciting project. The Belgian team’s international development experience in the Seychelles, combined with the in-house expertise from the UK, makes us well suited for the work encompassed in this contract. We look forward to making it into a success.”
