West Sussex, United Kingdom, September 12, 2014, – Southern Water has selected MWH in a joint venture with Costain, named CMDP to be one of its AMP6 Delivery Partners. The joint venture will provide design and build solutions for the development and delivery of Southern Water’s water and wastewater non-infrastructure programme as part of its £3 billion Business Plan for 2015-2020.
The work is worth approximately an initial £200 million to the joint venture over the five year period and will see CMDP working collaboratively with Southern Water and other Delivery Partners to bring together detailed design, construction and commissioning expertise. CMDP will deliver a range of schemes to maintain and improve Southern Water’s water supply and wastewater treatment works in the eastern half of its region (Kent & East Sussex).
The appointment marks confirmation of both MWH and Costain’s ongoing partnership with Southern Water, having played a major part in their AMP 3, AMP4 and AMP5 programmes. There will also be the option to extend the framework beyond 2020 into AMP 7.
John Abraham, Managing Director MWH Treatment, said: “Our appointment is great news for MWH, and we look forward to bringing the combined capabilities of MWH and Costain to the Southern Water programme. Collaboration will be a key factor for successful delivery. We will work together with Southern Water, the other partners and the wider supply chain to ensure the best outcomes for Southern Water’s customers.”
The contract will begin this month with the Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) phase, in preparation for the start of AMP6 delivery, running from April 2015 to March 2020.
