Evan and Rachel highlight the potential opportunities post-Brexit for stakeholders, particularly the water companies to challenge legislation in the context of “good science” on a local and national scale.
In this Expert Focus article they go on to suggest that it is vital that the UK Government implements a long term plan to protect and sustain natural infrastructure, including soils, rivers and ecology, against the increasing pressures of climate change and population growth.
Despite this potential for future change, Dr Evan Dollar and Rachel Dewhurst fundamentally identify that the UK will always be constrained by EU environmental regimes and therefore any new UK legislation created must adhere to European key standards in order to access EU markets and meet environmental product and supply chain standards.
