There is little evidence suggesting that climate change information is taken into account by governments, the civil sector and private companies in Africa when making critical near, mid and long term investment decisions regarding development strategies, techniques and policies, a recent Climate and Development Knowledge Network study has shown.
Internationally, mainstreaming climate risk management and adaptation information into development planning is considered essential for the desired development outcomes to be reached.
The study published in 2015 as part of the Future Climate For Africa (FCFA) included information drawn from a literature review, scientific research, multi-stakeholder workshops and a high level meeting with key representatives from government, civil society and the private sector in Zambia.
