MWH is a founding member of the Clean Water America Alliance (CWAA) and a silver sponsor of the 2012 U.S. Water Prize program. Six U.S. Water Prize awards were given at an event held in Washington, D.C. on Apr. 23. As a sponsor, MWH had the distinct privilege of presenting our client, the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission, with the U.S. Water prices for the commission’s holistic approach to energy, water and urban watershed management. Its strategy for stormwater includes innovative regulation, collaboration with other enterprises and financial assistance and outreach campaigns to increase community awareness and participation to enhance the function of the city’s watersheds.
Other 2012 U.S. Water Prize winners include Frito-Lay for its corporate-wide stewardship on water and energy conservation; Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District for its pioneering watershed-based permitting pilot program; Philadelphia Water Department for its Green City, Clean Waters program; Project WET Foundation for its success in building an extensive, grassroots network of school and community educators; and Salmon Falls Watershed Collaborative for its inter-jurisdictional partnerships to protect and sustain drinking water supplies.
