In May 2011, MWH and Latrobe City Council (Victoria, Australia) were named joint finalists for the 2011 Victorian Premier’s Sustainability Award. The submission, ‘Positioning Latrobe City Council For a Low Carbon Emissions Future’, was honoured in the ‘Local Government’ category.
In 2009, Latrobe City Council commissioned MWH to develop a strategy to enable the region to optimise its transition to a low carbon economy. In April 2010, the Council adopted and began implementing the carbon reduction policy to provide the greatest opportunity for a successful community outcome.
The Victorian Premier’s Sustainability Awards recognise and reward Victorian businesses, institutions, communities and individuals that are forging a sustainable Victoria now and for the future.
