We are delighted to announce that an MWH article published in the American Water Works Association (AWWA) Opflow magazine in the May 2013 issue has won AWWA’s 2014 Opflow Publications Award.
“Recovering from Hurricane Sandy”, authored by Douglas Reed, Roger Stephenson and Steven Hyland, discusses how with proper preparations, swift response, steady leadership and a ready support team, the Rockaway (NY) Wastewater Treatment Plant weathered Hurricane Sandy to restore critical services in a timely manner and how others can learn from the experience to protect their utilities.
The award’s purpose is to recognize the contribution of information directed at operating personnel of water utility systems in the areas of science, technology and water supply operations as published in Opflow.
During the 2014 AWWA Water Infrastructure Conference’s opening session, Jiren He (pictured), project technical lead who was part of the recovery team at the Rockaway Wastewater Treatment Plant, collected the award on behalf of MWH.
