MWH in the UK, Heriot-Watt University and the UK’s Institution of Civil Engineers recently held their second annual prestige lecture on the critically important global theme of resilience.
The lecture, ‘Lessons from a Flooded City’, was delivered by Professor Eelco Dykstra, who has 25 years’ experience in international emergency management, including event preparedness, resilience, and recovery. He is a member of the Dutch National Advisory Board for the Environment and Infrastructure, and runs the international think-tank DIEM (Daily Impact Emergency Management). His lecture focused on flooding resilience and lessons in overcoming the obstacles to achieving event risk reduction and consequence management for critical infrastructure.
David A Smith, MWH Global Chief Strategy Officer, has summarized the lecture and shares his thoughts in this short video: “Ten years on - Lessons from the flooding on building resilience.”
