Building Information Modelling, or BIM as it’s commonly known, is one of the most talked about and evolutionary changes to project delivery and asset information management within the built environment in the last decade or more.
Infrastructure owners globally are mandating its use on capital projects and demanding more sophisticated levels of data to better inform their Asset Information Management Systems. BIM can do this.
For the majority of civil infrastructure asset owners however, BIM is still somewhat of an enigma.
- What is BIM?
- What can BIM do for me?
- How is BIM best administered both in my organisation and by the relevant professional services firms and contractors on my projects?
MWH are hosting a series of BIM masterclasses to build your knowledge and skills and provide you with specialist insights that will enable you to lead the introduction of this innovation within your organisation.
Facilitating the masterclasses will be leading expert in this field, Suibhne (Siv) Cullen, Asia Pacific BIM Leader for MWH Global. Siv provides strategic advice on the tactical application of BIM to our clients in the region. He sits on the Australian Standards BD104 Committee [ISO TC 59/SC 13 Mirror] and as a founding member of ‘collaborate anz’ a reviewing contributor to the New Zealand BIM guidelines. Supporting Siv, discussing Asset Management, is Tony Urquhart, an MWH Principal Consultant based in Auckland, a thought leader in the region on the subject of best practice utility management, investment planning and business transformation having had papers published in industry journals and conference proceedings in Australia, New Zealand, Europe and the United States.
By attending the master class you will be able to:
- Understand what BIM is
- Understand the full spectrum of how BIM can be used to provide optimum value over the asset life cycle
- Ask the right questions of your service providers when it comes to procuring and managing BIM on your projects
- Understand how your Capex deliverables can be tied to returns on investment in Opex
