MWH was one of the companies invited to present at the “Water Forum 2011- Comparing Holland to Italy” Conference an event aimed to help companies operating in Italy and Holland exchange experiences and capabilities about: flood prevention, coast protection, water infrastructure and delta technologies. The event also featured Italian and Dutch excellence stories and stimulating cross border collaboration. Water Forum 2011 was organised by the Dutch Embassy in Italy and Confindustria (the most important Italian business association) and took place in Rome on 23rd November.
Recently appointed Italian Minister of Environment Corrado Clini, gave a speech during the morning session.
The afternoon session was devoted to business workshops and Harry van den Oever the Natural and Built Environment Business Unit Manager for MWH in the Delft office presented in the session named “Building with nature”. He briefly illustrated MWH capabilities in the wet infrastructure sector, from the Port of Rotterdam remediation, to the Port of Antwerp sediment treatment works, and from the Panama Canal extension to the Venice lagoon sediment treatment project. Major oil and gas, dredging, construction and engineering companies attended the event along with Government, business associations and Municipalities’ representatives.
Harry van den Oever said: “I regard this as a tremendous opportunity for MWH to showcase its leadership in the wet infrastructure sector in such a high level event. The conference was about Holland-Italy collaboration, and in fact the collaboration between the MWH South and North Europe Operations once again proved to be extremely fruitful and effective.”
