Stormy-Weather

Stormy Weather - San Blas, Panama
Julia Loffler, Buenos Aires, Argentina

How did you become part of the MWH team?
My Applied Geology professor works in MWH and when I got my degree and, given that I did well at his course, he told me to send my CV as they were looking for a geologist.

What is your role at MWH and how long have you worked here?
I am a geologist and work in Geotech. I started working in MWH Argentina June, 2011, so this June it will be 2 years.

What inspired you to take the photo selected for the calendar? What inspired you to participate in the MWH photo contest?
This photo was taken in San Blas one Sunday off while working in Panama. I was about to return when the sky turned gray with thick, dark, stormy clouds. It was awesome!

Photography has always been a hobby of mine, and I wanted this photo to be in the calendar because many people working in MWH had been to Panama, and I found it representative. I am proud my photo got to be in the calendar.

If you could go anywhere in the world to take photos where would you go? Why?
I think I would take photos anywhere, in fact I do, but I have always wanted to visit Austria, Switzerland and Scotland as I have never been to Europe and find these countries to have great landscapes and interesting culture.

I would also like to go to Polynesia. I grew up in Bariloche, a place in the Andes, and I am used to cold weather, mountains, lakes and snow… that is why I find amusing white sandy beaches, as San Blas.

What do the photos you take say about you as a person?
I have always found it interesting to capture things we usually see in our everyday life and go unnoticed. I am very observant and like to find the beauty in the little things. I think that is what art is all about, a good colour combination, a smile captured at the right moment, lines patterns…

What does the MWH purpose of Building a Better World mean to you?
As world population increases, so does demand. That is why providing energy with environmental awareness should be our first priority. MWH purpose of Building a Better World means to me that everyone at the company is truly committed in getting every project to have the least impact as possible and accomplishing the highest benefit for communities.
