Domenico Sciacovelli was the recipient of the Best Industry Dissertation Award delivered by the Politecnico of Bari during the 56th National Congress of the Italian Engineers Association.
Domenico obtained his Masters of Science in Mechanical Engineering with honours in 2010 and with a specialisation in Energy and Machines. He joined MWH in June 2011, as part of “RIDEF“, a Masters in Renewable Energies, Energy Efficiency and Environment, he completed on 25th October.
His award-winning dissertation focuses on the “Thermal-economic analysis of innovative gas turbine plants using agricultural biomass to produce electrical power in the Mediterranean countries” and was completed in collaboration with the firm Ansaldo Caldaie. One year later, it was presented to the Italian Engineers Association by Domenico’s tutor, Prof. Sergio Camporeale, as recognition to his hard work and talent.
Domenico said: “I am very proud of this achievement which was made possible thanks to the great support I received from the Energy&Power team in Milan. I could always draw on their expertise and professional advice to lead my work to completion”.
Domenico’s main hobby is rowing and, as a trainer, he used to say to his team: “What counts most are the emotions you feel during a race, more than the final satisfaction for a positive result”. He added: “This is how I felt during my dissertation: I really enjoyed working on it and learning from this experience. In the end, I managed to get a remarkable result, but what counted most was what I learned and how much I enjoyed my work”.
