Jarrod Pettigrew, lead transportation designer based in the Brisbane office, has won the award for the Engineering Associate of the Year at the Engineers Australia Queensland division prestigious Engineering Excellence Awards (QEEA).
Judges based their decision on five key criteria including engineering competence, demonstrated leadership skills, positive outcomes from engineering work, creativity/innovation and service to industry, the profession or the community.
For more than two years Jarrod was a technical lead on the Transport Network Reconstruction Program (TNRP) in the Fitzroy Region for Queensland Transport and Main Roads (TMR). This major road rehabilitation program was divided into several packages of remedial works over a number of state controlled roads. These works were required as a result of the major flood events of 2010/2011.
“It is an honour to receive recognition from the industry,” Jarrod said. “But far from being an individual accolade, this award is a reflection to the great team I worked with. They gave me the encouragement and freedom to be creative, challenge our processes and be innovative in my work every day.”
Jarrod is now a finalist in the Engineers Australia Australian Engineering Excellence Awards (AEEA’s) to be held in Melbourne on Monday the 24th of November.
