We are very pleased to welcome a few new faces to our transport consulting team in Queensland. With a wealth of transport planning and sustainable transport expertise, we are very excited to have Fran and Brad join our team.
Fran Gottschalk recently joined our Gold Coast team in April coming from her previous project management role with the Department of Transport and Main Roads (DTMR). Fran is a transport planner bringing with her strong public transport and traffic engineering experience for both the public and private sectors. Fran is a keen cyclist who has a strong passion for the promotion and use of sustainable modes of transport.
Brad Scouller joined our Brisbane team in April and like Fran, has come to our team from his previous project management role with DTMR . Brad was previously part of the TransLink team and brings his experience from several transport planning projects led by DTMR, including the Northern TransitWay, Victoria Point Bus Station and the SEQ Bus Network Review.
Chris Harris has moved to our Gold Coast office. Whilst some of you may already know this, Chris has recently moved to our Gold Coast office to help support the team with the opportunities that are fast approaching with the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games. Chris also brings his previous experience as a development application planner to support our traffic impact assessment capability.
The team has been hard at work on a variety of projects over the past few months. Here is a snapshot of what we’ve been working on.
 Gold Coast Airport Master Plan
Gold Coast Airport Master Plan
Queensland Airports Limited (QAL) is embarking on a significant terminal and air-side facility expansion program in time for the Commonwealth Games in 2018. To achieve this, QAL needed approval from the Minister for the associated Major Development Plan (MDP). Our team was chosen as the traffic and transport advisor. With a relatively small area for landside operations constrained by the Gold Coast Highway, maximising the output potential of the area in front of the terminal is crucial for ensuring solid commercial returns and operational sustainability for the Gold Coast Airport.
Queen’s Wharf Brisbane
Queen’s Wharf Brisbane is a prime CBD precinct which will be redeveloped with an integrated casino resort which could include six star hotels, retail, restaurant and entertainment and convention facilities. Our transport modelling team developed a SATURN model for the Queen’s Wharf Development project. Our team led the base model calibration, network coding and update of future year models and matrices using SATURN.
Caloundra South Master Plan—Town Centre Micro-Simulation
Caloundra South Master Plan—Town Centre Micro-Simulation
On the back of previous transport planning and traffic engineering work undertaken by the team, our modellers are currently developing a micro-simulation model using VISUM / VISSIM packages for the Caloundra South Town Centre. The model is an integral component of an application package and addresses key considerations such intersection performance, access arrangements, car parking and many other important transportation aspects.
