As part of a long-standing holiday tradition, the MWH Walnut Creek office in California has again partnered up with the Adopt an Angel Program to take part in ‘The Angel Tree’ giving campaign for local foster children.
The program is designed to provide children associated with Children and Family Services (CFS) with gifts during the holiday season. These children have all been separated from their parents, are living in placement, and many have been through traumatic situations.
The Adopt an Angel Program each year gives the names of 50 local foster children between the ages of infant to 18 to the MWH Walnut Creek branch. As the names are received, they are placed on tags including the child’s details such as their age, clothing size and more importantly the top three items the child would like most for the holidays. Gift ideas range from toys to clothes. Those tags are then hung on a tree in the Walnut Creek office to allow employees to select the child they would like to buy a gift for.
Once the employee selects a tag, they purchase a gift for the child with a $35 limit, wrap it, and bring it back to be donated. As with previous years, all 50 names given to MWH received a gift.
This year, the Walnut Creek office provided the wrapping for the gifts that were purchased and receptionist, Lisa Augusta, wrapped each child’s gift individually.
