The Young Professionals Group (YPG) in New Zealand has signed up for the 2015 Oxfam Water Challenge, to do their part in the fight to deliver safe, clean drinking water for communities in rural Melanesia. By signing up to this valuable cause, MWH has committed to raising a minimum of $2,000, and will also have opportunity to show why we’re the best in the water sector!
As the global leaders of the water infrastructure sector, we see first-hand how critical water is for life on Earth. We continue to partner with organizations who strive to ensure that every single community—and every human being—has access to clean water. That’s why responsible wastewater recycling and effective environmental water treatment solutions are so important to us.
The 2015 Oxfam Water Challenge has a fundraising target of $40,000. This is the amount required to get a Melanesian Water, Sanitation and Hygiene education (WASH) project off the ground. To date, the YPG has held a number of events, raising approximately $400. With MWH having committed to matching the efforts of the YPG once they hit the $1,000 mark, we are well on the way to reaching our minimum target.
The fundraising activities of the Oxfam Water Challenge culminate in a Challenge day in February 2015 where MWH will compete as one of 20 engineering companies to design, build, present and deconstruct a solution to the ‘challenge’ issued by Oxfam. The team is very excited to be participating in such a worthy cause and to have the opportunity to showcase their skills.
If you would like to contribute and help us reach our fundraising goal, you can donate here.
