Education: Bachelor of Communications from UTS.
Job Overview: Assisting the NSW Water projects group with administration.
How I ended up at MWH: I used to organize events for the Australian Water Association (AWA) and as a consequence of MWH’s corporate membership I met a few people from MWH. Mark Bruzzone was one of these people and he suggested that there might be a job opportunity at a new alliance MWH were part of, the SewerFix Wet Weather Alliance.
I was at SewerFix for 4 years and, in total I’ve been at MWH for almost 7 years now.
What is on my desk right now: I hate cluttered desks, so my desk is boring and bare. On my desk at this moment in time is: My ‘to do’ list, my phone, a blue felt pen and a green felt pen, a few (only a few) sheets of paper and a bottle of water that I have been meaning to fill up for about the last 3 hours but I’m too lazy to get up and walk around to the kitchen.
Free time activities: A year and a bit ago, before I became a mum, I did actually have free time to enjoy relaxing activities like walking and reading books …now, any time that I have is spent in traffic or at work, in the kitchen- attempting to cook, in the laundry doing YET ANOTHER load of washing, picking toys and chunks of food off the floor or wiping snot or dribble off furniture…it never ends! In saying that though I do also enjoy playing hide and seek under the bed, having bike races around the dining room table and dancing to the ‘Bob the Builder’ theme song.
Best career advice I’ve ever received: It is both life and career advice, from my beautiful dad who told me to treat every one that you come across in your working life with, from the office cleaner to the Managing Director, with kindness and respect.
Experiences at MWH: I am in awe of the talent and expertise of people in our office and across the world and the type of projects they have been involved in. Even more amazing is that these people are only a few keyboard clicks away!
Story to tell: When I first joined the water industry I was asked to help edit a document on potable water. (I had no idea what potable water was or that it even existed). I was dismayed at the terrible spelling of the engineer’s who had written the document….and as a result I changed the many times that the word ‘potable’ appeared to ‘portable’.
