Job Overview: I am part of the global talent development team which supports our business in developing talent management strategies. The team also develops and implements our talent management frameworks, systems and processes.

I also have a regional role in Asia Pacific where I plan, and oversee the implementation of approved learning and talent development programs. The team ensures our people acquire the skills and competencies needed for the future success of the business, and to enhance their professional careers. Our aim is to ensure MWH attract and retain the best people – to have the right person with the right skills at the right time.

How I ended up at MWH: I came to do a 6 month contract with the Australian business and 6 years later I am still here… that is Retention!!!

Best career advice I’ve ever received: Work hard and results will come………
Your values are your foundation, never be swayed…….

Experiences at MWH: I am mentoring a young professional in the water industry. I was asked by this young man after he heard me give a keynote on mentoring last year at an AWA Vic session. I believe we should all give back by trying to help the next generation succeed.

I know it sounds cliché, but I have a second family at MWH. I work with people that have now become workout partners, happy hour companions, and volunteering friends.

Story to tell: I would like to share with you all the commitment my parents made to learning in our family.

I grew up in a small farming community, total population 1500 people. Opportunities for a career were limited unless you wanted to become a farmer’s wife… I have 3 sisters and one brother who are all older than me. My parents worked hard to make ends meet to put us through school and University. My mum was in particular adamant that her 4 girls would have every opportunity to succeed in life and that would come through learning. My bother went into the army at a young age and received an education through the Defence Force. He left and is now back on the farm. Mum’s four girls grew into women and all have both Bachelor and Post Graduate Degrees (two with Masters), from Australia’s top Universities. We are all very successful in our own professions and careers. I don’t think this would have happened if mum had not loved and supported us to learn, and take every opportunity that came our way.

We should all support our loved ones to learn, just like the Cox girls, the sky is the limit.
