Job Overview: My current role is to work with our clients to help them run their businesses better. Basically – I help our clients evaluate and solve the problems they face. This can include redesigning organizational structure, implementing better training and knowledge management, or improving project management processes and capabilities (to name a few). Building a Better World is about more than the environment, it is also about building sustainable businesses. I’m privileged to play a part in making that happen for our clients, and for my MWH team as well.
How I ended up at MWH: When I was selecting between multiple companies MWH was 1) global 2) provided a high caliber staff development program via MWH University 3) had great people with loyalty to the company and each other, and 4) had multiple interesting lines of business. These things brought MWH to the top of my list – and keeps it there 14 years later.
What is on my desk right now: Desk…What’s that? As I write this, I’m using a folding table at a client office as a stop off between workshops. The table has my laptop, coffee, and notebook on it, and my backpack has the rest of my “office” in it.
Free time activities: I love food, wine and the outdoors. Living in Colorado is a great way to bring those together –cooking, gardening, hiking, camping, playing with my labrador…
I also love to travel – and by traveling learning about the history, culture, cuisine, and people of the world.
Best career advice I’ve ever received: #1 Don’t be afraid to take on a new challenge #2 Sharing your knowledge and experience is the best way to benefit yourself, your team, and the company – be willing to learn & to mentor/teach others
Experiences at MWH: I believe our global workforce at MWH gives us a competitive edge against our competitors. As we continue to improve our knowledge sharing and get bright ideas around the globe quickly, we outshine our competitors and wow our clients. I’ve enjoyed getting to work in different countries, bring those lessons home, and maintain the relationships with colleagues around the globe.
