The 100km Oxfam Trailwalker takes place in 12 countries, to test people’s endurance and raise money to end world poverty. Teams of four have 48 hours to complete the walk.
This year, 550 teams took part in the Sydney trailwalker. This included My Wrinkles Hurt, an MWH team consisting of Caine Mertens, Emma Pryor, Kev Lockyer and Susan Kitching.
Not only did the team select a sensational team name, they also stuck together throughout the duration; completing the course in 33 hours.
Emma and Susan attribute their success to the motivation they received from Caine and Kev, and the support they received through the website and Facebook during the event.
Despite hallucinations, blisters, and a lack of sleep; the team finished in good spirits. Not surprising, the conversation is said to have gone downhill intellectually as the hours wore on.
The My Wrinkles Hurt team would like to thank everyone who has donated to them and a special thank you to their support crew who brought them food and supplies throughout the event. This crew included friends and family, and special mention goes out to their colleague, Lucy Barber.
The team has raised $4,347 and is hoping to increase that to $5,000. If you’d like to donate, visit the Oxfam Trailwalker website.
