Will Pearson is a graduate engineer in the Swinton U.K. office. He joined MWH recently and is currently serving in the Army Reserve.
I was born in Aldershot, England and my Father was a member of the armed forces in the Royal Army Dental Corps. I didn’t get interested in joining until I was about 16, when deciding on
College/University etc. it came into mind. At this point I had two options, join the ranks as a soldier or commission as an officer. I decided to take the officer route and the most common route to this is going to university where I studied Civil Engineering at the University Of Liverpool. During my time at University I joined the Liverpool University Officer training Corps, which develop student’s skills through basic military training and the first steps of officer training. I realized during this period that I didn’t want to go down the officer route, I also started liking my course more and wanted to move into the industry after I left University. So the logical step was to join the Army Reserve. I could do my civilian job while still training as a soldier. I have now transferred Units and I am training with the Queens Own Yeomanry, a Light Armored Cavalry Unit who specialize in reconnaissance.
I joined MWH in September as a graduate engineer and am looking forward to building my career here. My military background has aided in my new role quite a bit. Many skills in fact cross over; Discipline, Integrity, respect for others etc. which are all British Army Core values that cross over into the civilian world.
