Education: Bachelors of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing from Colorado State University, and a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Colorado Denver
Job Overview: My role at the company is an integrated media specialist, where I manage the digital footprint for our company. I am challenged to work on the strategy and execution of our corporate website, social media, search engine marketing and how we are represented to clients, shareholders, potential employees and the communities in which we live and work.
How I ended up at MWH: A family friend forwarded me an opportunity that I couldn’t refuse and had to apply. At the time, I had also met several people who were currently working at MWH and had nothing but great things to say.
What is on my desk right now: I moved desks a few days ago so it looks like a tornado went through my desk. I’ve got some photos of family and friends up though, and enjoy putting my pens and paper clips in nice little containers. Other than that, it’s a bunch of papers and sticky notes. I’m a huge fan of sticky notes, especially neon colors.
Free time activities: My husband and I really enjoy trying new restaurants around our neighborhood, so we like to do that often and of course travel. I love to see/visit a new place I’ve never been each year. I am also the global lead for our young professionals group, an internal group that has over 600+ members. I help connect members all over the world to be a part of professional training, networking, volunteering initiatives and targeted by executives to pilot internal programs. It’s a challenge I enjoy and excel at helping elevate the chances for others within the organization. I appreciate the leadership opportunities that it has provided for me.
Best career advice I’ve ever received: We are the only keepers of our destiny and it’s up to us to take ownership. Don’t expect that anyone ever understand your path, you have to tell them and drive them to help you.
Experiences at MWH: I’ve been fortunate to have amazing mentors in addition to career angels while working at MWH. My mentors have guided me through some difficult situations but also build me up by giving me criticism in a very professional and pleasant way. The only way I can learn is by understanding what I can be doing better and they have been instrumental to helping to build my leadership skills.
I know it sounds cliché, but I have a second family at MWH. I work with people that have now become workout partners, happy hour companions, and volunteering friends.
