Recently, MWH Constructors’ Central Weber Wastewater Treatment Plant Upgrade Project achieved a major milestone. The Sewer District agreed to the substantial completion of the Central Weber solids system facilities, allowing the first of the new process systems to be placed into service. Prior to placing the solids system into service, the owner, engineer, architect and local building inspector inspected the facilities to ensure they were complete and ready for service. The building inspector issued a Certificate of Occupancy for the two buildings.
The Solids System includes the thickener building, digester control building, the blended solids tanks and two anaerobic digesters. The commissioning and start up group are now assisting the District’s operations staff in bringing the new digesters fully on line with this process, which is expected to take approximately six weeks.
MWH Constructors is responsible for general contractor and construction management (GC/CM) services for the $135M Central Weber Wastewater Treatment Plant Expansion, Ogden, UT, which MWH also provided engineering and design services for. The GC/CM project includes construction of a new 30-mgd activated-sludge treatment plant as an expansion to the existing facility, as well as all civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, commissioning and start up services.
