Renewable Energy World has announced finalists for the 3rd Annual Excellence in Renewable Energy Awards. MWH is proud to have provided technical expertise to one of the finalists for Hydro Project of the Year—the Lake Chelan Hydro Modernization Project.
MWH provided engineering and design services to Public Utility District No. 1 of Chelan County in Washington state for the modernization of the 59 MW facility, which was originally constructed in 1927. Modernization efforts have extended the service life of the generating equipment by at least another 40 years, as well as increasing efficiency and reducing operation costs.
In addition to awarding Project of the Year in solar, wind, hydro and biomass, the awards program recognizes innovation in technology, finance and policy for renewable energy projects in North America.
