Five countries in the Lake Victoria catchment area are active participants in a strategy aimed at improving management of water resources and the lake’s watershed, controlling and preventing pollution, and strengthening institutional capacity.
A further injection of funds has been made by the World Bank to extend and reinforce a range of projects underway to improve the serious environmental degradation of the Lake Victoria Basin and catchment area, home to an estimated 35 million people.
