The Sacramento District of the United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) has awarded a nationwide Environmental Remediation Services (ERS) contract to MWH, a global environmental engineering, construction and strategic consulting firm.
Under the terms of the contract, which has a combined ceiling of $200 million between seven awardees, MWH will provide a range of environmental services for Hazardous Toxic and Radioactive Waste (HTRW) and Ordnance and Explosive (OE) projects. Those services include investigations, studies, engineering support, remedial actions and operation and maintenance of treatment facilities under firm-fixed price, cost-reimbursable and fixed-price remediation with insurance delivery orders.
MWH was selected as one of seven large-business awardees for this contract. The contract period is two years, with an option of three additional years. The geographic area covered by the contract includes all U.S. states and territories, allowing nearly all of the 41 USACE districts and most U.S. Army bases access to the firm’s environmental services. The MWH team includes primary partners HydroGeoLogic, Inc., USA Environmental, Inc., and Toltest, Inc., plus specialty subcontractors.
“MWH has a rich history and a strong partnership with USACE and we are pleased to have been selected for this important contract,” said Douglas Christensen, contract manager for MWH. “We are committed to providing USACE with the high-quality service they have come to expect from our firm and look forward to working hand-in-hand with the Sacramento, Omaha and Tulsa Districts to deliver effective solutions that support their mission of sustaining the environment.”
Projects under the Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract may include installation of underground and above-ground storage tanks and removal, transportation and disposal of hazardous and/or contaminated soil, water or product. Additional projects could include drilling, installation, development and sampling of wells; construction of support facilities, roads and site project offices; remediation of low-level radioactive areas; and installation and/or upgrade of water treatment systems to reduce contaminants and/or naturally occurring substances. Task orders under the contract will be issued using a competitive selection process.
USACE is a group of approximately 35,000 military and civilian engineers, scientists and specialists that perform water resources and civil works projects, design and manage construction of military facilities, and support various federal agencies.
MWH’s long-standing relationship with USACE dates back to 1977 and includes work with more than 30 districts worldwide. Since 1991, MWH has continuously served the Sacramento District through five contract awards to complete more than $80 million in environmental task order assignments. MWH has also been working in cooperation with the Chicago District recently to assist the City of Chicago and the Chicago Park District with planning, design and construction of nearly eight miles of shoreline reconstruction along southern Lake Michigan.
MWH has served the Sacramento area for approximately 50 years, and employs more than 150 local people.
