The Southern Delivery System (SDS), one of the largest water projects underway in the western United States, is a regional project that will deliver water to four southern Colorado communities. The project, led by Colorado Springs Utilities, will bring water stored in the Pueblo Reservoir, located on the Arkansas River, north through 50 miles of pipe to Colorado Springs and its neighboring communities – Fountain, Security and Pueblo West.

Within two years, this project will begin pumping its first drop of water. Even better news for the 500,000 people directly affected: the project will be completed on time and under budget. The August issue of Public Works highlights value engineering that kept the project under budget. Read more about this project here: “This idea holds water.”
