Recently, Engineering News-Record (ENR) featured an article about the rising demand and possibility of potable reuse projects in the United States. As part of this article, Julie Labonte, MWH senior vice president, highlighted the City of San Diego’s Pure Water Program. In early 2015, the City of San Diego selected MWH and Brown and Caldwell as program manager for the Pure Water San Diego program. Pure Water San Diego is an approximately $2.7 billion program to provide a safe, reliable and cost-effective drinking water supply for San Diego. Using proven technology to purify recycled water, the environmentally-friendly program will make San Diego more water independent and resilient against drought, climate change and natural disasters.
