This year, General Electric celebrates the 10th anniversary of Ecomagination, its strategy to enhance resource productivity and reduce environmental impact. In celebration of the milestone, GE invited MWH Global and seven other global companies to partner in accelerating innovation in water and energy efficiency.
MWH joins Statoil, Masdar, Walmart, Total, BHP Billiton and Intel to “develop technology solutions that will improve productivity, reduce impact and increase returns,” according to GE Chairman and CEO, Jeff Immelt. He invited leaders from each partnering company to attend an event on Thursday, October 29 in Paris.
Alan Krause, chairman and CEO of MWH Global, noted that MWH addressed the challenge of mitigating growing global water scarcity by focusing on expanding and financing industrial and municipal water reuse. The goal is to achieve global adoption of water saving reuse techniques.
Alan discussed the challenges and opportunities of managing global water resources. He served on a panel focusing on Technology Drivers and Water, and was joined Dr. Ahmad Belhoul, chief executive officer, Masdar; Paul Aaron, managing director, Goldman Sachs and Thierry Mallet, senior vice president, Innovation, Marketing and Business Performance, Suez. The panel was moderated by Will Sarni, water practice leader, Deloitte.
Commenting on the partnership and the role of MWH, Krause noted that “during our more than 20 year partnership with GE, MWH has provided innovative, one-stop water reuse/recycling solutions to water municipalities and food and beverage customers globally. MWH is pleased and inspired to be selected as an integral water partner, as we believe our knowledge and experience to be a perfect match with the experience and knowledge of GE.”
