Interoperable Geospatial Technology Ensures Quick and Effective Decisions to Support Mission-Critical Crisis Response
Broomfield, Colorado – MWH Soft, Inc., a leading global provider of water resources applications software, and Avtex, Inc., a leading provider of telecommunications and business process automation applications solutions, today announced a strategic partnership to address critical emergency response and infrastructure management needs of the waterworks industry.
The two companies will collaborate on the seamless interoperability of MWH Soft’s H2OMAP and InfoWater state-of-the-art modeling software and Avtex’s CityWatch alert notification system as a complete emergency response solution for water distribution systems. Under this agreement, both H2OMAP and InfoWater will be enhanced to automatically export the information required by CityWatch to send thousands of alert and other important messages to telephones, cell phones, pagers (text/numeric), e-mail addresses, fax machines, wireless devices, PDA’s, SMS devices, and more within minutes.
This milestone solution equips water utilities and emergency response professionals with expanded power and flexibility in estimating and managing the consequences of a terrorist attack or a crisis event on their drinking water supply infrastructures. It also maximizes their effectiveness in protecting public health during alert situations by enabling them to quickly locate areas of their systems affected by a contamination or water main break, and instantly communicate critical information to personnel and affected customers. The combination of CityWatch and H2OMAP or InfoWater geospatial applications software can also help identify viable solutions before an incident or disaster occurs. Key users will include municipal water utilities; city and county public works departments; and federal, state, and local emergency response and regulatory agencies.
“I am tremendously enthusiastic about strengthening our relationship with our business partner Avtex to create a best-of-breed complementary offering for our customers,” said Paul F. Boulos, Ph.D, President and Chief Operating Officer of MWH Soft, Inc. “This important technology alliance leverages the unique expertise of both our companies, and allows our customers to benefit from the synergy between our products. The interface of CityWatch proven alert notification system and MWH Soft H2OMAP and InfoWater makes perfect sense. It will produce an unprecedented emergency response and notification solution that helps water utilities save lives and property, shorten response time, effectively manage disasters, improve customer satisfaction, and save money.”
Don Denman, Vice President of Avtex, predicts that the MWH Soft/Avtex partnership will provide unprecedented emergency response and notification capability for water utilities. “A huge number of key water utilities rely on MWH Soft superior technology, the world’s most advanced and comprehensive water distribution modeling, management and optimization software. The CityWatch interface will enable these customers to quickly, accurately, and automatically deliver the right information to the right audience at the right time. Fast and accurate notification is crucial to any emergency planning effort. The time it takes to communicate critical information in an emergency can mean the difference between safety and catastrophe.”
