MWH Global, Inc. again ranks among the world’s top design firms according to the “Top 500 Design Firms Sourcebook 2006,” a comprehensive market analysis published recently by Engineering News-Record (ENR) magazine. Paced by its work in the environmental and power industries, MWH was listed No. 12 among the top 500 U.S.-based design firms serving domestic and international markets.
According to the analysis, of the top 25 firms performing design services for water and wastewater projects in the environmental industry sector, MWH ranked No. 1 in several categories: transmission lines, aqueducts and sanitary and storm sewers. MWH was also ranked No. 1 among the top five firms performing design services for hydro plant projects in the power industry sector. The company ranked No. 3 for its work in dams and reservoirs, treatment and desalination, sewerage and solid waste, water supply and wastewater treatment. Of the top 25 firms providing design services for hazardous waste projects, MWH ranked No. 6 in site assessment and compliance and No. 10 in chemical and soil remediation.
“Our commitment to building a better world depends greatly on our core competency in sustainable design,” said Bob Uhler, CEO of MWH. “We’re proud of these exceptional standings for our work in designing systems that help our clients efficiently deliver power, water and wastewater services to meet the needs of their growing constituencies, while helping to sustain the planet’s precious natural resources.”
According to the ENR analysis, the top 500 firms saw total design revenue rise to $59.25 billion in 2005, up 11.8 percent from the previous year. This included a 12.6 percent growth in domestic revenue to $47.40 billion, and an 8.9 percent growth in revenue for projects outside the United States to $11.85 billion. The ENR sourcebook ranks the largest U.S.-based architectural and engineering firms according to revenue for design services performed in 2005 in eight major industry sectors, including general building, transportation, manufacturing, industrial process, petroleum, power, environmental and telecommunications.
