MWH Global, Inc. today announced that it has been awarded a four-year, approximately $45 million contract by the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA) to help oversee enhancements to the Las Vegas Convention Center.

The new program and construction management services contract is part of a $737 million master plan enhancement program for the Las Vegas Convention Center that was approved today by the LVCVA board of directors. MWH – in partnership with HNTB Architecture – will help oversee the design and construction of convention center enhancements that include the addition of meeting rooms, a new front lobby, and a 100,000-square-foot general session space. Construction is scheduled to begin in late 2006 and be completed by the end of 2010

“Las Vegas has long been known as the number one convention destination, and an enhanced convention center will allow the city to remain atop the industry well into the future,” said Rossi Ralenkotter, president and CEO, LVCVA. “We look forward to working with MWH and other local firms and partners throughout the process.”

“We’re extremely pleased to have been selected by the LVCVA to help manage enhancements to a convention center facility that’s played a central role in making Las Vegas a leading business destination for more than 45 years,” said MWH Chairman Murli Tolaney. “After working closely with the LVCVA on the development of the proposed master plan, it’s gratifying to now have the opportunity to work side-by-side with the LVCVA to ensure that Las Vegas retains its status as one of the world’s most desirable convention destinations.”

In addition to HNTB, a number of Las Vegas-based firms will participate in the program, including TBL Construction, who will provide project estimating and scheduling support and Alpha Communication, who will lead community outreach. MWH and HNTB have provided program and construction management services for many other large programs including the Denver International Airport renovation, the Kansas City Capital Improvements Program, and convention centers in Washington D.C., Boston, San Diego, Kansas City and Providence, Rhode Island.

MWH has had offices in Las Vegas for over 40 years, where it now employs more than 50 people
