The role program management will play in the provision of the UK’s huge pipeline of infrastructure projects over the next decade. To successfully deliver its infrastructure book of work, UK plc must adopt a structured approach to the scoping and prioritization of projects, explains Paul Taylor, head of program development in the UK at MWH, now part of Stantec.
The UK has ambitious goals. It wants to make its economic more successful through increased GDP, more effective with improved standards and more efficient with increased productivity.
The strategy is to make infrastructure the catalyst that helps the country to improve in the decades ahead. This will mean created a huge amount of economic and social infrastructure investment.
In order to successfully deploy this level of investment, program management covering both strategy and delivery is the single most important enabler in bringing it together.
