Betsy Redfern
Chief Learning Officer
Betsy Redfern is chief learning officer of MWH Global, headquartered in Broomfield, Colorado. She is charged with leading all education, training and development efforts of staff across the globe, which occurs primarily at three MWH learning centers located in Broomfield, U.S. Sydney, Australia and Delft, Netherlands.
Ms. Redfern has a lifelong passion for learning that has been translated into a curriculum of courses that broaden and deepen the skill set of MWH staff under her leadership. The corporate university model applied at MWHU is based in proven educational theory - applying a proven adult education model and employing exercises and activities that are highly engaging and hands on. The corporate university at MWH is certified for the granting of Continuing Education Units (CEU’s) by the International Association of Education and Training. MWHU is a primary location for leadership and staff to gather, interact and fully embrace the principles and concepts which underpin all of the values of MWH
Prior to joining MWH in 1998, Ms. Redfern was in curriculum design in Fayetteville, Arkansas where her career spanned three decades. Her classroom experience coupled with her oversight of courses from design through development to implementation forms a lifetime of experience steeped in practical application, melding theory with practice. She also served in the University of Arkansas tutorial program for U of A athletes as well as media tutor for the athletic director. During the educational improvement programs of Arkansas under then Governor Bill Clinton, she founded the After School Programs, Inc. at all Fayetteville Public School, which exists today under the charter and organizational structure designed by Ms. Redfern.
Even with her heavy travel schedule, Ms. Redfern engages in a wide range of local community service actions as an individual as well as on behalf of MWH. She has served on the board of IACET. In addition, she is a frequent guest speaker as an advocate for Women in Technology. In her spare time, Ms. Redfern spends time introducing her three grandchildren to all season sports in the Rocky Mountains.
Ms. Redfern has a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from Oklahoma State University and a Master’s Degree in Curriculum Design from the University of Arkansas. She currently lives in Boulder where she spends as much time outdoors as possible.
